Distinguished Professional — Dr. Gabrina Dixon, Oxon Hill HS Class of 1997
Dr. Gabrina L. Dixon graduated from Oxon Hill High School’s Science and Technology Program in 1997 where she was captain of both the pom squad and swim team. She also was a member of the National Honor Society and National Space Settlement Design Competition Team.
Dr. Dixon attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her bachelor of arts degree in Biology in 2001. She received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in 2006. Dr. Dixon completed her pediatric residency program training at Saint Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan and Rutgers; Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2009 and subsequently became a pediatric hospital medicine attending physician at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she currently works.
Additionally, Dr. Dixon is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She enjoys teaching fellows, residents and medical students about general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine.
Dr. Dixon is the inaugural recipient of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine 2021 Virtual Conference Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Award. She is a leader in research on diversity equity and inclusion in pediatric medicine. She has publications in top medical journals including Pediatrics, Hospital Pediatrics and Academic Pediatrics.
