Distinguished Young Leader — Jimmy Jenkins, Charles Herbert Flowers HS Class of 2009

Jimmy Jenkins started his directing and producing career in 2013 at Black Entertainment Television and Tyler Perry Studios. He is one of the founders and co-owners of Gold Street Productions LLC with his older brother Joshua Jenkins and Playwatch Kids Inc.
In 2016, Jimmy achieved great success with his stage play, “Black Boy Blues.” In 2017, he filmed his first feature film, “Sinners Wanted,” starring Lamman Rucker, Clifton Powell, and many other notable actors, premiering on TV One and BET Plus.
In 2020, Jimmy co-directed and produced his debut documentary film, “Basketball County – In The Water,” on Showtime, executive produced by NBA superstar Kevin Durant and 35 Ventures. The film focused on the exceptional NBA talent that was born and raised in Prince George’s County.

In 2021, Jimmy launched Playwatch Kids LLC, where he is co-CEO and President of Content. Playwatch Kids is a streaming platform focusing on minority children, helping to aid in education and in clean entertainment.

This year, Jimmy debuted his new stage play “Poor Man, Rich Soul,” and is now directing two documentary projects on the University of Alabama football program and NBA players out of Canada. Both are set to release in 2023.
