Rebekkah Lamar Brunson graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 2000 and went on to attend Georgetown University. A Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year, she led the nation in rebounding and scoring in her senior season. Rebekkah was drafted by the WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs with the 10th pick overall in 2004. In Sacramento, she won her first WNBA championship in 2005, which sparked a successful career spanning 15 years with both the Monarchs and the Minnesota Lynx.Rebekkah is a five-time all-star and all-defensive player, third all-time in rebounding, and the winningest WNBA player with a record five championships. After retiring, her jersey was raised to the rafters in Minnesota, where she ended her career with four titles. Rebekkah is currently an assistant coach with the Lynx and an NBA analyst.
On and off the court, she uses her platform to raise voices in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and other social justice issues. She is co-founder of Sweet Troo Vi, a plant-based cookie company in Minneapolis whose mission is deeply rooted in supporting local youth and businesses. Brunson also established and manages the 32 Foundation, named for her jersey number, which sponsors academic and athletic opportunities for youth in the metropolitan DC area.
